Who are we?
The Coombabah Clippers Basketball Club is a junior basketball organisation based out of Coombabah on the Gold Coast. As one of the original four clubs within the North Gold Coast Seahawks, we have proudly contributed to the growth and development of basketball in the region for over 25 years. We’re more than just a club, we are a passionate community committed to nurturing young talent and creating a lifelong love of the game.
We welcome boys and girls aged 6 to 20, catering to players of all skill levels, from beginners just learning the game to those competing at higher levels. At the heart of our approach is a focus on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship, all in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Training sessions are typically held at Coombabah State High School, offering convenient and accessible facilities for families in the local area. Our structured training blocks cater to different age groups, with sessions that focus on both fun and fundamentals.
Our club is proudly volunteer-run, the dedication of our committee, coaches and team managers are why the Clippers continue to thrive. From organising training and game days to running events and supporting player progress, our volunteers are the foundation of everything we do. We are always eager to welcome new players and volunteers who want to be part of something special.
Whether you're a young player ready to hit the court or a community member keen to contribute, we invite you to join the Clippers family.

Vicki Sams

At Coombabah Clippers, we owe much of our foundation and identity to Vicki Sams—a trailblazer, mentor, and beloved figure within our club and the wider Gold Coast basketball community. As one of our original coaches and past club President, Vicki played a vital role in shaping the Clippers into the strong, community-driven club we are today.
Vicki brought a natural talent for teaching and an unshakable commitment to developing young players. Her coaching style, built on a "tough but fair" philosophy, has left a lasting impression on generations of players. She especially thrived when working with younger and developmental teams, where her passion for teaching could truly shine.
Originally from Newcastle and a proud mother and wife, Vicki continues to be a source of inspiration well into her 70s. Over the years, she has coached countless junior players, including NBL champion Damian Martin, and has become a respected figure in Gold Coast junior basketball circles.
Vicki’s legacy is evident in every Clippers team that takes the court—built on defence, resilience, teamwork, and heart. We’re proud to honour her contributions and carry forward the values she instilled in our club from day one.
